June Exams: Shakespeare Workshops

Please note: a previous version of this page incorrectly advertised the date of the Othello workshop as the 27th May between 10:00 and 12:00. This has been corrected, and the date is now the 30th May between 13:30 and 15:30.

Course Introduction

These online workshops are aimed at Matric students writing the National Senior Certificate who are struggling with Shakespeare.

Each session is two hours long, and includes revision of the plot, characters and themes of Hamlet and Othello. The sessions also include revision of past papers.

Workshops: Dates and Times

Saturday 30 May

10:00am-12:00pm: Hamlet

13:30-15:30: Othello

Participants will be sent the Google Meet link to each lesson on the day before it takes place.

Meet your tutor

Donatella du Plessis is a specialist in French and English Literature. She has a PhD in French Literature and 16 years of experience teaching French to children and adults. After working as a lecturer at the University of KwaZulu-Natal, Dr du Plessis taught French and English in South African public and private schools under the Cambridge, IEB and CAPS curricula, and has been an external examiner at the University of Cape Town since 2022. In 2026, she started her tutoring business, Extra French: Cape Town. She offers one-on-one lessons at a rate of R600 per hour and group lessons at a rate of R400 per hour.
